April 1 Is Deadline to Nominate WaterSense Partner of the Year

Winners will be announced in October at the WaterSmart Innovations conference in Las Vegas.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is accepting applications for the 2011 WaterSense Partner of the Year awards until April 1. These awards showcase WaterSense partners who have done the most in the past year to increase awareness and understanding of the WaterSense label and water efficiency.

The awards recognize program partners in six primary categories (manufacturers, irrigation partners, retailer/distributors, home builders, promotional partners such as utilities, and licensed certification providers), based on their demonstrated accomplishments promoting WaterSense labeled products and practices in 2010. Depending on the applicant pool, EPA may recognize multiple Partners of the Year or Excellence Award winners in any category.

Applicants must be WaterSense partners in good standing, and award applications must be submitted online by the deadline to be considered. Winners will be announced at the WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, Nev., in October.

WaterSense, a partnership program sponsored by EPA, seeks to protect the future of U.S. water supply by offering people a simple way to use less water with water-efficient products, new homes, and services. Since the program's inception in 2006, WaterSense has helped consumers save a cumulative 46 billion gallons of water and $343 million in water and sewer bills.
