ATSDR Issues 21st Toxicological Profiles Set

The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry has issued its 21st Toxicological Profiles Set, which includes six updated final toxicological profiles and one new one, for chlorine. ATSDR announced them in the Nov. 30 Federal Register. The profiled substances are the hazardous substances most commonly found at facilities on the Superfund (CERCLA) National Priorities List.

Final and draft profiles are available to some stakeholders, including state health and environmental agencies; federal, state, and local health professionals; academicians; nonprofit/environmental groups; and members of the public involved with Superfund sites. Others may buy final profiles from the National Technical Information Service (NTIS), 5285 Port Royal Road, Springfield, VA 22161, phone 800-553-6847.

The 21st set includes these substances, with their NTIS order number followed by their CAS number:

  • Boron (update), PB2010-100001, 7440-42-8
  • Chlorine, PB2010-100002, 7782-50-5
  • Ethylbenzene (update), PB2010-100004, 100-41-4
  • Ethylene glycol (update), PB2010-100005, 107-21-1
  • Plutonium (update), PB2010-100006, 7440-07-5
  • Styrene (update), PB2010-100007, 100-42-5
