CARB Approves FirstCarbon Solutions as GHG Verification Body

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has accredited First Carbon Solutions of West Chester, Pa., as a greenhouse gas (GHG) verification body for the state’s AB 32 program. Under Executive Order H-10-196, the company is certified to verify GHG inventories for approximately 700 facilities that are currently required to report.

On December 6, 2007, pursuant to the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, CARB approved the Mandatory Reporting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions regulation. The regulation requires reporting and third-party verification of GHG emissions. Facilities subject to mandatory reporting are required to have their emissions verified beginning in 2010, for their 2009 reported emissions. Facilities are subject to either annual or triennial verification.

FirstCarbon Solutions combines environmental consulting and GHG emissions management software to allow organizations to optimize their sustainability initiatives.
