Georgetown University Center to Tap Rain Water Resource

LT Technologies, a manufacturer and designer of advanced water purification, filtration and chemical treatment systems, has been awarded a contract to supply systems for rain water reclamation and reuse, as well as an ultrapure water production for Georgetown University's new science center.

The new Science Center, projected to be completed by 2011, will be a state-of-the art research and teaching center for biology, chemistry, and physics.

One of the goals set by planners of the new facility was for it to be designed for a Silver LEED rating from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The company will provide rain water harvesting system that will be fully automated and will create clean water for non-potable uses throughout the complex.

"Our rain water harvesting system saves an enormous amount of water from running down the storm drain systems, and instead, efficiently reclaims it and makes it available for an array of uses," said LT Technologies Chief Executive Officer Tom Belmont. "When we started developing our system, we were familiar with some of the older specifications out there. But we knew we could build a better, smaller and more affordable system. Now, with nearly two years of development work behind us, we can offer customers a very advanced yet cost-effective solution. We're very excited about the future prospects of this technology."

Part of the contract will have LT Technologies manufacture a high-purity water system that will be used in the building's laboratory environments.
