HAPS Monitoring Chart
Airgas, Inc. of Radnor, Pa., is providing its most up-to-date Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPS) monitoring chart for free to regulators and owners of HAPS-emitting facilities.
The 12-page, pocket size chart provides details on 188 Chemical Abstracts Service registry numbers, corresponding HAP compounds, and available Airgas calibration gases for accurately monitoring emissions of those compounds.
Bob Davis, director of utilities, explained that the chart will help regulators and owners determine if a calibration gas can be produced for measuring a specific pollutant. “This allows for much easier measurement of the actual pollutant and avoids using a surrogate chemical for calibration. It saves many hours of aggravation and countless dollars wasted on establishing and complying with the difficult Title V emissions permits,” he said.
The availability of the HAPS monitoring chart coincides with a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Information Collection Request from more than 800 Part 75 utilities.
“The new Airgas HAPS chart helps permit writers and owners of emissions sources determine what pollutants can and cannot be measured so they can realistically determine what can be included in a Title V state emissions permit.”

Drinking Water Information
To help consumers understand their role in protecting the nation’s water supply, NSF International offers free educational information in it's Water Fact Kit, which includes a video that explains NSF certification.
NSF is an independent, not-for-profit organization that certifies products and writes standards for water, food and consumer goods to minimize adverse health effects and protect the environment. The organization houses its laboratories in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The kit also includes information on how to test water wells, choose a drinking water treatment unit, learn about contaminants in drinking water, and protect available drinking water supplies.
Coolant Troubleshooting for Metalworkers
