Public Hearings Address GHG Reporting Additions

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency planned to hold public hearings today and tomorrow on proposals to add reporting requirements for certain emissions source categories under the national mandatory greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting system.

The April 19 hearing in Arlington, Va., was expected to cover GHGs from fugitive and vented emissions from the petroleum and natural gas industry as well as reporting from facilities that inject carbon dioxide underground for the purposes of geologic sequestration or enhanced oil and gas recovery.

The April 20 hearing will focus on the part of the proposal requiring emissions reporting from industries that emit fluorinated gases. This hearing will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1310 L. St. N.W., Room #152, Washington, D.C. 20005. To sign up to speak at this hearing, visit www2.ergweb.com/projects/conferences/ghg/register-ghg-hearing2.html.

The public may also register on the day of the hearing but may not be given a specific time to speak. EPA also will accept written comments on the proposed standards until June 10.
