Agency Seeks Input on Ocean Acidification Effect on TMDLs

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is seeking public comment on ocean acidification as it relates to Clean Water Act Section 303(d) (also known as the Total Maximum Daily Loads Program) through a Federal Register notice, “The Clean Water Act Section 303(d): Notice of Call for Public Comment on 303(d) Program and Ocean Acidification."

In the notice, EPA is soliciting specific input on what considerations the agency should take into account when deciding how to address listing of waters as threatened or impaired for ocean acidification under the 303(d) program.

By November 15, EPA will complete a memorandum that describes how it intends to proceed with the Section 303(d) program in light of the responses to the notice. The deadline for comments is May 21.
