Wayne, Neb., to Address Wastewater Plant Odors

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $520,400 to Wayne, Neb., for improvements to its wastewater treatment plant project.

EPA Region 7 Acting Regional Administrator William Rice said, “EPA is proud to award these water infrastructure funds to protect water quality. Water infrastructure is a lifeline for community health and prosperity.”

Wayne’s existing 25-year-old facility continues to generate odor complaints regarding the sludge treatment system. The city has been trying to manage those odors, but the grant will help construct a wastewater treatment plant that will address those concerns, according to EPA.
