EPA Region 6 Plans Quality Assurance Conference

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will host the 19th Annual Quality Assurance Conference Oct. 19 – 23 on the 12th floor Conference Center at its Region 6 headquarters, 1445 Ross Ave., Dallas. To register, go to www.epa.gov/region6/qa .

Region 6 serves the governments of Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, and 65 Indian Tribes, enforcing environmental regulations from the agency. Several short courses and presentations will be given from a number of distinguished scientists from various government agencies, analytical instrument makers, and commercial laboratories.

Christine Paszko, Ph.D., of Accelerated Technology Laboratories will make a laboratory automation presentation titled, "Overcoming the LIMS Fear Factor," at 1 p.m. on Oct. 2. The presentation will focus on some of the key challenges that analytical laboratories face as they implement a laboratory information management systems (LIMS); the technology, the business process and the human factor. Paszko has more than 20 years of laboratory operations and automation experience and has given numerous presentations, published dozens of manuscripts and co-authored two books on LIMS.
