Clinton, Miss., Facility Wins WEA Plant of the Year
The Mississippi Water Environment Association awarded the city of Clinton, Miss., Southside wastewater treatment plant the 2008 Class 4 Plant of the Year Award, according to a press release from Severn Trent Services.
The city’s 3.5 million-gallon-per-day treatment plant serves 18,000 residents and is operated and maintained by Severn Trent Services under a public-private partnership that began in 1994.
The association recognized the plant for its state-of-the-art processes, safety record, preventive equipment maintenance and aesthetics. A plaque and commemorative flag were presented to the city by Rusty Lyons, the award committee chair from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.
“Responsible innovation coupled with safety is always at the forefront of our operation,” said David Canizaro, plant manager. “In addition, we follow stringent policies and procedures to ensure proper equipment maintenance is performed daily.”
