WEFTEC Offers Discounts to Utilities

To help alleviate the strain of the current economic crisis on local municipalities and to encourage maximum participation at WEFTEC.09, the Water Environment Federation (WEF) is offering discount pricing packages to utility professionals through its Utility Partnership Program.

Recognizing that utilities comprise the largest single segment of its membership and are an integral part of the water profession as a whole, WEF has been working over the past several years to develop a wider variety of management initiatives, resources, training, and networking opportunities that work within the confines of utilities’ often tight budget considerations.

First launched at WEFTEC.05, the Utility Partnership Program was originally intended to boost conference attendance from local utilities but was expanded two years ago to include utilities from across the country. Designed to foster peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and business opportunities between municipalities and the more than 900 conference exhibitors, the goal of the program was to make WEFTEC more accessible to a wider range of utility employees. A success from the start, participation in the popular program has more than doubled over the past four years.

To date, 20 utilities from across the country have signed up for this year’s program. The advanced registration deadline for WEFTEC.09 is Sept. 11. For more details, visit www.weftec.org or contact utilitypartnership@wef.org.
