TAPPI Honors Easley for Service

In recognition of outstanding leadership and exceptional service to a Local Section, TAPPI member Michael (Andy) Easley will be honored with an award during the PaperCon ’09 Conference in St. Louis, Mo., May 31 through June 3.

Easley brought significant and demonstrable benefits to all Local Section members through his work with TAPPI’s Gulf Coast Local Section, according to a Feb. 18 press release.

A 24-year veteran of the pulp and paper industry, Easley has served as the manufacturing services manager at AbitibiBowater’s Coosa Pines Operations in Coosa Pines, Ala., since 2001. He started his pulp and paper career with Champion International at Courtland, Ala., as a software engineer in 1984 after four years in the Nuclear Power Industry with TVA. In 1987, Andy joined Bowater’s Calhoun Mill as a systems manager and has held various positions with the company since.

Easley joined TAPPI in 1989. He became active in the Gulf Coast TAPPI Local Section in 2002 and held Local Section Executive Chair positions from 2004 through 2008. He has been involved with the TAPPI Student Summit Planning Committee since 2007 and is active with the Auburn and Alabama student chapters, and attended the organization’s Leadership Forum in 2008.
