Shopping Center Company Deploys Smart Irrigation

HydroPoint Data Systems Inc., recently announced that Regency Centers, a national owner,operator, and developer of grocery-anchored and community shopping centers, has deployed WeatherTRAK at 30 of its shopping centers as part of the company's greengenuity initiative, which includes outdoor water conservation.

The smart water management technology initially will be deployed at 30 existing shopping centers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington that have installed high efficiency "smart" irrigation to sharply reduce outdoor water consumption. Regency anticipates saving 42 million gallons of water yearly.

WeatherTRAK uses pinpoint, micro-climate weather data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to automatically schedule irrigation based on individual landscape needs and local weather conditions. This dynamic adjustment of water output eliminates the need to manually adjust irrigation systems while reducing water use by up to 59 percent and water runoff by 71 percent, meaning landscapes attain their full water conservation potential.
