Stormwater Seminar Highlights Kansas City Program

The "Changing Face of the Stormwater Industry" series, initiated in early 2008 to share knowledge and best practices in stormwater management, will hold a half-day seminar on Nov. 18 in Kansas City, Mo.

The event, being held at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown, will feature presentations by respected academics, industry researchers, and engineers. Topics will include Kansas City's stormwater management successes, the city's requirements for treating stormwater runoff from industrial sites, and cost-effective assessment techniques for stormwater management.

The series aims to bring regulators, developers, and solution providers together to discuss best practices and the frequently changing regulations pertaining to stormwater management.

The conference will feature a presentation by Deborah O'Bannon, Ph.D., an associate professor of Civil & Mechanical Engineering at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. O'Bannon will provide attendees with an overview of the successes of Kansas City's stormwater management program. Other speakers include Jing Tao, Ph.D., of the Kansas City Water Services Department; Christina Luebbert of Shafer, Kline and Warren Inc.; and Kwabena Osei, research and development manager of Hydro International.
