Hydro International Realigns U.S. Business Structure

Hydro International, a provider of solutions that control and treat stormwater, wastewater and combined sewer overflows, on Sept. 30 announced a new market-focused U.S. business structure poised to take advantage of increasing opportunities in the municipal wastewater, stormwater and "wet weather" markets.

The company's wastewater operation, based in Hillsboro, Ore., brings Hydro and Eutek Systems, which Hydro purchased in May 2008, under one roof. The new operation now offers advanced solutions to separate, wash, and dewater grit from municipal and industrial wastewater.

The wet weather operation, based in Portland, Maine, oversees the company's solutions designed to improve management of wet weather flows within collection systems and wastewater treatment plants including combined sewer overflows, sanitary sewer overflows, and storm discharges at wastewater treatment plants.

The U.S. stormwater operation, also based in Portland, Maine, provides a full range of solutions to control and treat urban runoff from MS4 communities with separate storm sewer and sanitary sewer systems. Hydro's portfolio of treatment products include filters and vortex separators, which are used to comply with the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) regulations requiring the removal of "nonpoint source" pollutants from stormwater runoff.

"This new organizational structure gives Hydro a renewed focus on strategic segments of the U.S. water market that will allow us to better serve the needs of our customers," said Chris Williams, chief operating officer. "These operations are positioned to build on our long history of innovation and top quality service and capitalize on growth potential in our target markets."

The wastewater operation's portfolio of grit management solutions includes a number of advanced technologies designed to remove grit from waste streams, including the Grit King®, Eutek TeaCup™ and Eutek HeadCell™.

The stormwater operation markets the Up-Flo™ Filter, a high-capacity filtration system used for the control of sediments, nutrients, metals, and hydrocarbons; and the Downstream Defender®, an advanced vortex separator with internal components that increase removal efficiency and prevent pollutant washout, as well as flow controls, inlet controls, and stormwater storage media.

The wet weather operation markets the now available Hydro Vortex Drop™, Storm King® advanced vortex separator, Hydro Jet® Screen, Hydro Static® Screen and Heliscreen ® and the Reg-U-Flo® Vortex Valve flow control device.
