APWA Develops Stormwater Certification Program

The American Public Works Association (APWA) has developed a new Certification Program for stormwater managers. The purpose of the program is to promote excellence in the profession by advancing knowledge and practices in stormwater management.

A Certified Stormwater Manager will have understanding and experience in the administration of a stormwater program, use of best practices, hydrology, maintenance and other related areas.

"APWA's Certified Stormwater Manager Program is an important step forward for clean water and sustainable infrastructure," said Assistant Administrator for Water Benjamin H. Grumbles. "It's helping to raise the bar for stormwater professionals and ensure water utilities are highly effective in meeting current and future needs."

To achieve certification, applicants must meet a set of eligibility criteria and pass an examination. APWA will conduct two exam sessions in the coming year, with the first scheduled for May 16, in Dallas, Texas.
