Water Network Taps Wealth of Retiree Knowledge

The Water Advice Network (WaterAN) has formed to ensure the continued availability of knowledge from recently retired and part-time water professionals. While no longer interested in full-time employment, these professionals are available in an advisory capacity.

"Retiring professionals have a huge amount of experience and knowledge. Our goal in launching this network is to make it easy to connect these professionals with those that need assistance," said Jeff Oxenford, managing director of WaterAN.

Big names in water have already signed up, including Jim Manwaring (retired executive director of AwwaRF), Steve Hubbs (retired vice president of Louisville Water), Richard Moser (retired vice president of American Water), and Joe Cotruvo (retired director of criteria and standards for EPA).

The network will offer the following services

• Advice – Available on an hourly basis, these advisers can help address difficult decisions or provide a second opinion.

• Mentoring – A mentor is a phone call away. Mentors have an average of 35 years experience.

• Document review – Independent, expert review of plans, strategies, and reports.

• Peer review – Independent, highly qualified experts for peer review.
