Institute Awards Hydraulic Medal to Davis

The Environmental Water Resources Institute selected  Allen Davis, a 36-year employee of CH2M HILL to receive the 2008 Hydraulic Structures Medal. The award is one of the top two awards granted to hydraulic engineers annually, worldwide.

Davis, Ph.D., was recognized for being an industry leader in hydraulics and the focal point of hydraulic analysis at his firm. The award committee particularly noted his development of computer programs for the design, operation, and analysis of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, water and wastewater treatment, and hydraulic transients.

Davis is a senior hydraulic engineer and principal technologist with CH2M HILL's Water Business Group in Corvallis, Ore. He monitors the development and support of hydraulics software for water and wastewater applications. He provides firmwide guidance for hydraulic modeling and serves as either primary modeler or senior reviewer on many projects involving hydraulic transients, treatment plant hydraulics, physical modeling, pump intakes, mixing in contact basins and storage tanks, and air migration in complex structures. In 2007, Davis received the firm's Lifetime Achievement Award for "outstanding leadership in developing and applying innovative hydraulics engineering solutions to projects worldwide."
