Sacramento Utility Seeks New Block of Renewable Power
The
Sacramento Municipal Utility District in California released a request
for offers of renewable energy for power purchase agreements. Proposals
are due on April 7.
The district's goal is to meet 23 percent of its retail electricity
sales with renewable energy by 2011 and beyond. The utility’s need for
renewable energy continues to increase due to its commitment to expand
the amount of power from renewable sources in its power mix and a need
to replace current contracts that expire in the coming years.
The 2008 solicitation is for power purchase agreement offers of California Renewable Portfolio Standards-eligible conventional renewables,
which include resources such as wind, geothermal, small hydroelectric,
landfill gas, biomass and biodiesel. A separate request for emerging renewable technologies is planned for mid-2008.
Interested parties can download the documents at www.bids.smud.org. Registration is required to access the documents.
The district recommends that those interested in solicitations list
their company name in the "Renewable Power" category as well as in one
or more Renewable Power subcategories. Registered individuals will
receive updated information regarding this request and be notified for
