International Trade Delegations Conduct Business at WEFTEC.05®

One aspect of WEFTEC.05® that might not be as apparent to many attendees is the number of international trade delegation that attended this year.

Trade delegations from eleven countries, the largest from Iraq, will gathered in Washington, D.C. to conduct business with and gather information from more than 850 water and wastewater companies at the conference. The countries that sent trade delegations this year are:

  • The Netherlands
  • China
  • Thailand
  • Mexico
  • Philippines
  • Bulgaria
  • Romania
  • Chile
  • Indonesia

In addition to conducting business, more than 39 representatives from the Iraqi delegation attended a technical session titled, ?Rebuilding the Water/Wastewater Infrastructure in Iraq? on Monday, Oct. 31. A panel of experts discussed the latest on the management and reconstruction of water and wastewater infrastructure and systems in the war-torn country.

WEFTEC, is an increasingly popular site for business transactions between water and wastewater companies and international visitors. The Water Environment Federation, a local not-for-profit technical and educational organization for water quality professionals, partners with the U.S. Department of Commerce International Buyer Program, US-Asia Environmental Partnership, EcoLinks, embassies, consulates, and independent trade delegation organizers to promote international and domestic business opportunities within the water quality community.
