I have looked at this “Al Gore’s” con for years and weather cycles even longer.Global Warming is not man-made and CO2 is "NOT" a pollutant but are natural with only about 3% of all CO2 being anthropogenic (human caused). Consider the following bullets:Not one Scientist has shown how CO2, 0.038% of the Earth's atmosphere by volume can influence the other 99.962%...not one! Of that small percent, only about 3% can be attributed to humans.CO2 rises every time the Earth is in a warming trend because the ocean releases CO2 as it warms and is a trailing event, not a leading event. Go back to more major studies such as the 400 and 800 million years ago Global Warming that more than matched the one we’re now coming out of. CO2 also increased as a trailing event in those event. Global temperatures have stabilized since about 1998. The 2007-2008 winter on a global scale was the coldest in (I have forgotten the study timeframe but something like 60-70 years or more). If you keep going, ask yourself why scientists have seen the Mars ice caps receding along with portions of the Earths ice caps. I seem to recall a similar symptom of warming found on one of (Jupiter’s?) moons, also. A very large number of credible scientists are speaking out and you can match their reasoned arguments to the rhetoric from the left. There has never been a consensus supporting the doomsayers. Don’t let Al Gore, Community Organizers and the extreme environmentalists keep us from managing businesses (and the USA) in a reasoned and conservative way that allows us to produce more of our own oil, build cars that Americans really want and to avoid absolutely crippling businesses in the name of “saving” the planet from the carbon myth. Oh yes, and to allow us to build Nuclear energy plants to truly make us energy independent. Why do the neanderthal ignorants get so much space on this? They know better than real scientists do? Do they believe the Earth is round, that we revolve around the sun, that Hiroshima happened, that scientists are right only when it doesn't offend their religion or ignorant self-defeating support of corporate and industry interests?
The finding at Stanford Univ relative to ethanol causing more GHG than gasoline is a fact that shows that the people in Washington do not know what they are doing. Ethanol use will also increase the price of food and reduce the availability of food. We need to be working on how we will feed people in the future. Obviously the GHG thing is a scam for income redistribution motivated by wealth envy. Too bad that the president and acorn have no clue as to what has made this country great. Companies are bailing out of what they see as a developing communist country. Who will pay the bills when the nasty rich bail out.

Is the science of AGW really what you want EPonline to cover? If, as you and others commenting on this unscientific poll suggest, AGW is not "science" but a theory, the coverage would be by definition limited.
Now that we have "hard evidence" on the dangers to us all by CO2, we need to eliminate any and all wild and domestic animals that are nonessential, scrap the endangered species lists, ban all pets, etc. We to evaluate the need for service animals as well as food stock animals. Each and every one of the excess ones need to be eliminated. This will bring about a major reduction in CO2 emissions. Then we need to ban travel by government officials other than the bare minimum to get them back and forth a couple of times a year from their constituants. All campaigning would need to be done either electronically or in shoe leather. My rough calculations show that this should bring about a reversal in a period of a couple of years if not sooner.
So there you have it, Environmental Protection. One can reasonably conclude that a vast majority are opposed to the "science" used to create the global warming scare (you asked the wrong questions). As I see it, there are two systems in place in this great land for ensuring that proper "checks and balances" are employed. One is the two- party system which, in this case, is no help at all since the Democrats are in control of the Administration, the House, and the Senate. The other is the press who has done a DEPLORABLE job in covering the facts of the entire global warming hoax, especially ClimateGate. So you have the results of how the people feel. Why doesn't Environmental Protection now report on the SCIENCE of the AGW issue? Start a trend for the press, before we have lost that freedom too. How about a reply? Thank you.
The Green Mafia is delusional at best, devious at worst. Science (real science, not Gore, Mann, Hanson pseudoscience) absolutely does not support global warming mythology. When the well-intentioned but misinformed eco-zealots discover to their horror that global warming is the biggest scam in the history of mankind, the economy and the American way of life will be unrecoverable, and we will be approaching third world status as desired by the president and his cronies.
Everyone seems to be ignoring that Global Warming is a theory, not a fact. The action by the EPA is irresponsible since it has no true scientific or technological basis.
It's about time. I think bankers and Wall Street have proven that weak regulations will eventually lead to disaster. Look at Russia, they have little environmental regulation and the life span of the average Russian man is something like 15 years less than an American man. Those who think there are no health impacts from climate change have not really thought this through and are just reacting.
It is arrogant to the extreme to believe such actions by any country, or all, will have a positive anthropomorphic effect. Sadly, Jackson and Obama are wagering our future as well as world economic health on an evolving, yet unproven, theory. What is next? Water vapor?
Hurray for the people, and especially our children. We have been breathing way too much pollution in this country for well over 100 years and it is time to clean up the air and water and reduce the massive lung cancers and other diseases associated with air and water pollution. Yes it costs extra but not as much as treating the diseases it causes. It will pay for itself with better health care for everyone.
I thought this EPA was going to base all decisions on science. Where is the science for anthropogenic global warming? There are computer models built by scientists predisposed to find AGW, but the data are not there. They can't provide substantial, repeatable data that shows that global warming is in fact caused by man and not by the natural cycles that have occurred since before we inhabited Earth. Notice that EPA is not publishing any scientific data supporting their findings. I hope an administration with more integrity comes after this one and corrects this unscientific decision.
All of the science and models supporting manmade global warming are based on emprical formulas produced by the IPCC, which is now discredited. The tree ring studies and temperature graphs we now know were falsified. Go to the NOAA website and you will see that all of the catastrophic projections are based on the flawed IPCC empirical formulas. Empirical formulas are based on observation and not on scientific theory. There is absolutely no correlation between termperatures which have remained steady and the increase in CO2 in the atmosphere. CO2 is not the problem but its increase is being cited erroneously as a cause of warming when it is most clearly not a contributor. CO2 is not a pollutant as the EPA is now stating. This is obviously a politically motivated attempt to regulate the U.S. economy through the EPA. Unconscienable and unacceptable!

The endangerment finding results in damaging the USEPA's credibility as a regulatory body designed to protect human health, well-being and the environment. The USEPA used to regulate pollutants under the CAA based upon scientific evidence and findings, not politic rhetoric.
I am glad Obama is willing to sacrifice the U.S.'s economy, stability and security to try to stop so-called global warming and then let all the "developing" countries skate free. Jackson is a pawn in the devaluing of the U.S. to suit a liberal feel-good prophecy.
I can't believe there are still so many people who don't [care] about the planet we are leaving for our children and grandchildren. With the rise in all kinds of diseases - cancer, multiple sclerosis, autism... do you think MAYBE we're doing something wrong and it's time for tougher controls on what big business does to make money? Maybe if there was a litmus test to determine that all CEOs were ethical... we wouldn't have these problems!! Right now, companies will do just about anything to increase their bottom lines. If 1 or 2 people out of a thousand get sick or whole species of animals are wiped out, so be it! It's time to change that. I'm really hoping future generations aren't so focused on the almighty dollar.
This is just another instance of our government reaching into our pockets and trying take our hard earned money. A certain scientist (in PA) doesn't have a problem manipulating the scientific data in order to get "global warming" grant money! We already have the clean air act, the clean water act. We have came alng way since the 1970s. Unfortunately, the Clean Air & Water Act have not gone far enough for a lot of environmentalist wackos (Al Gore included). They will not be happy until they place a tax on humans for exhaling! Our climatic conditions on this planet are cyclic! JUST SAY NO TO STUPIDITY! I guess I am now entitled to a Nobel prize in literature.
This is a way for the goverment to get some of the money back they are throwing out to their fellow crooks. Unfortunately, the money they get back will be from the hard working people that have a hard time making ends meet. But we must all sahre in the pain except for Mr. Obama and his tax dodging staff.
The apparent manipulative political grandstanding that has been initiated with this so called "needed environmental regulation" is diabolical to say the least. It is a sad and unfortunate day that Americans will be bridled with such usurious and politically inspired legislation concerning this factually misleading, psuedo environmentalism. And what of India and China?
It is truly amazing that a government of and by the people can declare that by breathing and thereby emitting CO2 its citizens are endangering their fellow human beings.
There is way too much discussion of data validity. Simply, where glaciers have been they are not now. The Arctic ice completely thawed in summer 2007. The Muir glacier in Alaska is Muir lake. Stop denying the fact of global warming. The evidence is widespread and profound!
Maybe we should initiate a recall petition that coincides with the congressional elections in order to wake up the White House. Giving Obama another two years to destroy this Country and our freedoms may be more than we can recover from if we wait until 2012.

The issue of man-made global warming is settled science. I strongly suggest those of you stating otherwise to go to the website of the Royal Society (hardly a group of blathering tree-hugging lefties). The Royal Society are unequivocal in their judgement that global warming is real and serious threat. If you distrust the Royal Society, try Scientific American - I can't remember the issue, but recently they devoted an entire issue to this. Again the evidence is there folks. You may not like the IPCC (after all its international), but you should read the report. The weight of evidence is overwhelming that we are seeing manmade global warming.
the consensus here is appaling : supposedly 58 % of the responses think the current adm is out of control -that ignorant response shouldn't even appear as an option. To those of you who comprised this percentage, you may want to get ready to face the music and/or just lose out on how to help -and maybe even profit from- innovations that will help the planet. I'm wondering how many times one person "voted" and if this site has safegaurds to prevent it.
So the US government is going to mandate action to resolve the issue of greenhouse gases, interesting. Who is going to mandate the rest of world economies and countries to follow suit? How do we control sulfur dioxide emissions from natural events (volcano) or stop wild (forest) fires? What about the heat source used to keep you warm and cook your food or that generated the energy? We are talking of regulating without having alternatives to resolve the problems. Oh, by the way, stop breathing you are polluting the air with a greenhouse gas.
This is as close to treason as one can get. The HEAD of the EPA (appointed by the President) issues this decree based on FALSE data (read the fact sheet: note the section 'most likely caused by'...that is not the definition of a FACT). The reason for this decree is to BLACKMAIL Congress into passing the Cap-and-Trade Bill. The President admitted this when he stated if Congress did not pass the bill, then the EPA would regulate to the point of harming business. WTF? The President will allow the EPA to harm the economy further unless Congress gives him a bill that will still harm the economy but give him greater control over the population? Climate Change: The climate is always changing. God made it that way. This is only about money and power. So to sum this up...SHAME on the EPA, Congress, the President, Al Gore, etc., etc. Never trust theives and liars.
What scares me the most is that the EPA, a non-elected entity, with little to no oversight, will now be making environmental law. They have effectively bypassed Congress.
Now that CO2 is a dangerous gas, how long before the first lawsuit because someone was forced to work near another who was "emitting" (exhaling) CO2 ? Work place safety issue? Some common sense must prevail.
This standard will not hold up in court. There has not been extensive environmental studies on CO2, which was the failure of other previous chemical standards that the EPA has previously proposed.
This is about power-concentrating political power to dominate and control. We know that the data has been manipulated and original data lost or destroyed. Those who dissent are given the "Chicago Thump" and demonized. This is not about science, its about money, manipulating people, and power, the oldest story in the world. It seems data in New Zealand and Australia are also corrupted. Using the original data in New Zealand shows NO WARMING for 150 years. Politically correct has come to mean you keep your job if you tow the line. Those who do not, lose their job and or their grants. So, in critical politicised areas of science, objectivity is the first casualty and we get demonised if we object. We will all be able to put an end to these types of scams in 2010 and 2012.....first clear out congress....then get rid of the corruption in the white house. Hopefully with a major shift in the political landscape back to the right.....we can put "real" science back into these types of decision making processes.....rather than having the science manipulated to meet a particular agenda. The arrogance displayed by the so-called "climate change" movement is outragous. To think that humans are the reason for this "change" in weather with disputing evidence ignored, by the way it snowed in Texas for the 1st time since 1982, shows that it is more a religous movement than scientific.

For far too long now we have heard about how MAN is causing Global Warming. Funny, but if that were true, then MAN could start/stop a hurricane, a tornado, a blizzard or put an end to droughts. BUT since NONE of that is possible, WHY then do these "experts" seem to think that we're to believe this pile of bullfeathers they're preaching? Excessive CO2 levels, I guess we all better get uesed to holding our breath or NOT breathing at all. Wait, I just heard Nancy Pelosi dreaming up a new tax; "the EXCESSIVE BREATHING TAX" we'll all be alloted so many resperations per day per year; exceed that and pay 50% of gross earnings tax for "polluting" the atmosphere! What is wrong with trying to curb greenhouse gases? If we would all decide to drive less, maybe carpool or ride a bike we can make a difference. During my 19-year career I have always carpooled with 2-3 other co-workers. Why are people so in love with driving to work by themselves? We can make a big reduction in CO2 emissions by just driving less and we would also have a healthier society.
I agree with Colin. There is significant scientific data showing global warming and the causes and we definitely need to act.
What's next, are they going to regulate how much we exhale too? According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the average summer temperature for CY 2009 was one of the cooler ever on record for the contiguous United States, with an average of 71.7 F, which was 0.4F below the 20th Century recorded average.
It is sad that EPA is so driven to regulate GHGs and to continue claiming exaggerated impacts of recent global warming. When the globe fails to get warmer, EPA and others will somehow manipulate the data to show that their efforts saved the world. The global warming movement has clearly become religious with both sincere believers (those who have been deceived) and the deceivers who push the theory for personal gain, either monetary or power.
Why don't we spend all that gov't money on new trees? Give lots of people jobs, the tree takes up 400# of "carbon" annually and there is then plenty of cellulose to convert to biofuel to harvest. Too simple?
It's very sad that a group like the readership of EP should have such a reactionary view of this. Every time EPA has regulated air emissions its been an opportunity for EHS professionals to practice their craft. The evidence for global warming is overwhelming and the need for government action is clear. I doubt that congress will pass truly effectvie cap and trade legislation, so the only way to move on this is through regulation.
Too much good science that disagrees with that quoted by Jackson is being ignored.
