Duke Energy has announced a $10 million Water Resources Fund for the improvement of waterways in North Carolina and South Carolina that flow into neighboring states.

Duke Energy has announced a $10 million Water Resources Fund for the improvement of waterways in North Carolina and South Carolina that flow into neighboring states, with $1.5 million of the fund to be spent on projects for the Dan River Basin Region. The remainder of the money will be spent on water quality, enhancing fish and wildlife habitats, expanding public use of waterways, and to increase residents' interest in helping to protect water resources.

The North Carolina Community Foundation will help distribute funds to other projects in Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee. In addition to this fund, Duke Energy will also invest $500,00 for the improvement of the Abreu-Grogan Park in Danville, Va.
