EPA to Review Cleanup Work at 27 New England Superfund Sites This Year

These are routine, five-year reviews at the sites.

EPA recently announced it will conduct routine, five-year evaluations at 27 Superfund sites in New England -- sites listed on the National Priorities List -- to determine whether the remedies used at the sites continue to protect human health and the environment. These reviews also identify deficiencies to the previous work, if any, and recommend actions to address them.

"In addition to a careful evaluation of technical work at the sites, during the Five Year Review process EPA also provides the public with an opportunity to evaluate preliminary findings and to provide input on potential follow up activity that may be required following the review process," according to the agency.
