New GM Approved for Las Vegas Water District

Clark County Commissioners have approved John Entsminger for the agency's top executive post. He has been the senior deputy general manager for the district and the Southern Nevada Water Authority.

The Clark County Commission approved John Entsminger as general manager of the Las Vegas Valley Water District and the Southern Nevada Water Authority, replacing Patricia Mulroy. Entsminger has been senior deputy general manager for both and won approval Jan. 7, both Las Vegas newspapers reported.

Mulroy joined the district about 30 years ago and has served as its GM since 1989. She is leaving the post next month. Mulroy was a principal architect of the authority, the key water management agency for the fast-growing region.

Entsminger has worked for the agencies since 1999. As Mulroy's senior deputy GM, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of both agencies' operations. He was serving as the deputy general counsel for SNWA during the negotiations and eventual execution of the 2007 Colorado River Interim Guidelines and has been SNWA's lead negotiator on Colorado River matters. He is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado and the University of Colorado School of Law, where he received the Charles N. Woodruff Natural Resources Law Fellowship, according to his brief bio on the LVVWA website.
