Sims Recycling Solutions, which bills itself as the world's largest electrical and electronics recycler, announced that its Tucson, Ariz., facility has become the seventh of its facilities in North America to be certified to OHSAS 18001, the international occupational health and safety management system standard.

An audit of an organization's management system is performed as a prerequisite to certification. Sims Recycling Solutions operates 38 sites worldwide; its U.S. sites are located in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, South Carolina, and Tennessee. It is a division of the world's largest metals recycling company, Sims Metal Management Ltd.

"We are proud of our latest OHSAS certification," said Bill Vasquez, general manager of Sims Recycling Solutions' Western Region, in a news release. "It reaffirms Sims' commitment to a safe and healthy working environment."
