American Water Subsidiary Gets Islip Development Contract

Applied Water Management, a subsidiary of American Water, has been awarded a $3.4 million contract from Home Properties, Inc. to build a wastewater treatment plant in Islip, N.Y. The plant will treat 127,000 gallons a day and serve approximately 1,000 people in two developments.

The company already serves as the contracted operator for the community’s existing wastewater treatment plant, as well as four other plants in Long Island for Home Properties. The company designed the new plant, successfully bid on the construction, and will continue its operations contract.

The Applied Water Management Group of American Water is headquartered in Hillsborough, N.J., and provides customized water and wastewater management solutions to real estate developers, industrial clients, and small to mid-sized communities.

Home Properties, Inc. is a publicly traded apartment real estate investment trust that owns, operates, develops, acquires and rehabilitates apartment communities primarily in selected Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Florida markets.
