United Water Connecticut Adds Bethel to Its Operations

United Water has acquired Bethel Consolidated, Inc., according to a recent press release.

“This acquisition clearly demonstrates United Water’s commitment to grow by obtaining companies that are next to or nearby existing operations,” said Michael J. Pointing, vice president and general manager. “Today we make a commitment to our new customers in Bethel. We look forward to becoming an integral part of the community and delivering top-quality drinking water and the highest level of services.”

United Water currently serves about 14,000 people in New Milford, Newtown, and Woodbury, Conn. The company uses 34 different groundwater sources of supply, maintains 9 aboveground storage facilities, and has over 110 miles of transmission and distribution water mains.

The acquisition will expand its customer base by 600, increasing its presence in Fairfield County.”

United Water Connecticut is a subsidiary of United Water, a water and wastewater services provider to over 7 million people in 26 states through its 2,600 employees. In addition to owning and operating 20 regulated utilities, United Water operates 240 municipal systems through public-private partnerships and contract agreements, including Indianapolis, Ind., Gary, Ind., and Jersey City, N.J.
