Facility in China Selects Biological Denitrification

Beijing BCEG Golden State Sources Environment Protection Development Co., Ltd., a provider of specialized services to customers in China’s solid waste, water and wastewater treatment industries, has selected the TETRA® Denite® System from Severn Trent Services for use at Phase III of the Huishan Wastewater Treatment Co., Ltd. project in the Huishan district of Wuxi City, China.

According to a July 23 press release, Huishan Wastewater Treatment Co. approved use of the system to remove nitrate-nitrogen and total suspended solids at the wastewater plant, meeting stringent Class IA effluent discharge standards enacted by the China Central Government.

Construction of the 25,000 m3/day plant is scheduled for completion in November.

Denite is a fixed-film biological denitrification process that also serves as a deep bed filtration system capable of removing suspended solids to virtually any final effluent requirement. At the plant, the system will integrate with other plant treatment processes to provide superior total nitrogen and phosphorus removal. Denite will be used as the final treatment step to help the facility reduce total nitrogen influent from 20 mg/l to 15 mg/l and total suspended solids from 40 mg/l to ≤10 mg/l.

“Severn Trent Services has been operating in China’s water and wastewater market since 2002,” said Marwan Nesicolaci, vice president of international sales for Severn Trent Services, “and our array of innovative solutions is well suited to help address the country’s fast-growing environmental management needs, including meeting the stringent Class IA effluent requirements.”
