American Water CEO Elected to Chamber Board

American Water Works Company Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Donald L. Correll has been elected to serve on the board of directors for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He will serve for a term of two years.

With more than 100 corporate and small business leaders serving from all sectors and sizes of business and from all regions of the country, the board determines the U.S. Chamber's policy positions on business issues and advises the U.S. Chamber on appropriate strategies to pursue.

“I am honored to serve on the board of the nation’s pre-eminent business coalition, and to help represent the interests of water and other utility companies and associations nationwide,” said Correll.

"In these challenging times, experienced leadership like Don's is vital to getting the business community and Americans back on their feet," said U.S. Chamber President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Donohue.

In his current role at American Water, Correll leads a team of more than 7,000 professionals who provide drinking water, wastewater, and other related services to approximately 15 million people in 32 states and Ontario, Canada. He is responsible for developing the overall strategy and vision of American Water and directing its key business development initiatives.

Prior to joining American Water in 2006, Correll served as president and chief executive officer of Pennichuck Corp., a New Hampshire-based water utility holding company. Correll also spent 25 years with United Water Resources, a leading investor-owned water services company, where he served as chair, president, and chief executive officer.

Correll is currently the President of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC), and serves on the boards of a variety of civic, professional and business organizations, including the Environmental Financial Advisory Board of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, HealthSouth Corporation, and New Jersey Resources.
