Aircraft Recycling Event Focuses on Economics

The Global Aircraft Recycling Symposium at this year 's Aero & Defense Test 09/ITEA Annual Symposium will be top-of-the-agenda for product life cycle professionals from the aerospace and defense sector as the world 's first dedicated event for the international aircraft recycling community.

It will attract recycling experts and stakeholders from airframe operational and environmental global organizations.

Scheduled to focus on the economics of recycling, managing end-of-life processes, waste reduction, and structural and materials recycling, as well as future recycling targets and more efficient recycling processes, for example, the two-day symposium on Sept. 29-30 in Baltimore, Md., will cover civil and military airframes, engines and power plants, landing gear, avionics and cabin interiors, for instance.

Conference Director Ben Drew points out: "The aero industry is consciously aware of its environmental impact—let alone the fact that every $1 million of aircraft scrap can create up to $10 million of value in recycling—so, our inaugural recycling symposium will surely hit hot buttons throughout the aviation and environmental communities."

The Global Aircraft Recycling Symposium is co-locating with the Aero & Defense Test 09/ITEA Annual Symposium—the world 's leading event for aerospace and defense research & development and operational test and evaluation professionals.
