Protecting Residents From Chemical Accidents

Industrial and Local Planners in the Midwest Make Strides in Chemical Emergency Planning

Emergency planning committees and industries received awards for their chemical emergency preparedness at the Emergency Planning and Preparedness Conference held from July 25-27, 2013, in Overland Park, Kansas, according to Environmental-Expert.com.

The conference gave out awards to counties in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska who protected their residents against chemical accidents. In addition to recognizing counties for their work, the conference aims to help minimize chemical accidents.

The International Association of Fire Chiefs, EPA Region 7 and FEMA Region 7 held the conference.
