Vivotek Goes Green and Adapterless

VIVOTEK is going green and eliminating power adapters for network cameras that are PoE compliant.

PoE technology describes a system to pass electrical power safely, along with data, on Ethernet cabling. A conventional network camera relies on an adapter for power supply and an Ethernet cable for data transmission. Developed by the IEEE802.3af task force, PoE allows for power to be supplied over the same Ethernet cable, thus removing the use of additional cables.

We have developed a similar solution for onboard ships using the reverse solution of Ethernet over Power. The onboard electrical circuit acts as the data carrier and the camera / cameras around the ship are powered via the power line communication device that also transmits the data up to 200mbps.
