Republic Services to Open Recycling Center

Republic Services, a provider of recycling and waste collection, has opened a state-of-the-art regional recycling center in northwest Jacksonveille on Imeson Road. The facility will serve the residents and businesses throughout the area.

The recyling center will use technology including magnets, screens and optical sorters to identify and separate different types of recylclables and make the process of adding the materials back into new products easier and faster.

This represents Republic Services’ commitment to Jacksonville and north Florida and our commitment to planet-friendly solutions,” said Andrew King, general manager of Republic Services. “Making recycling easy for residents and businesses means higher participation across the region and, overall cost savings for the taxpayers and business owners.”

The 70,000-square-foot facility, which will be able to process more than 65,000 tons of recyclables per year, was designed to expand as recyling grows beyond the region.

In addition, the facility's Eco Center will teach people why its important to recycle waste and explain what happens to recyclables once they leave homes and businesses.
