DOE Contracts with 4 for Radioactive, Hazardous Waste Treatment

The Department of Energy (DOE) awarded four separate Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) multiple award contracts on July 1 for the treatment of Class A, B and C, low-level and mixed low-level radioactive and hazardous wastes.

The four companies will be awarded task orders to deal with the various waste types across DOE’s Office of Environmental Management cleanup projects.

The companies are:

  • EnergySolutions, LLC, Salt Lake City, Utah and Oak Ridge, Tenn.;
  • Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc., Oak Ridge, Tenn.;
  • Philo-Technics, Ltd., Oak Ridge, Tenn.;
  • Studsvik, Inc., Atlanta, Ga.

The contracts have a maximum value of $24.9 million with five-year ordering periods.

Over the years, DOE has generated large quantities of the equivalent of Class A, B and C, low-level waste and mixed low-level waste during operations and remediation of facilities and laboratories. The ID/IQ contracts will provide a complex-wide contract vehicle for DOE and its prime contractors that is efficient, competitively bid, that also encourages innovation and new technologies.
