Summit to Vet, Deploy Technologies for Smart-Grid Demo
The ATI Clean Energy Incubator and Austin Energy are partnering to sponsor the 2010 Clean Energy Venture Summit (CEVS) to re-imagine the built environment. The Summit will focus on start-up technologies ready for deployment in Austin's $10.4M DOE-funded smart-grid demonstration project. The demonstration project, which includes an integrated energy system of 1,000 homes and 75 businesses, is a product of the Pecan Street Project, the nation's most aggressive real-time, city-wide clean energy laboratory.
The ATI Clean Energy Incubator and Austin Energy are partnering to sponsor the 2010 Clean Energy Venture Summit (CEVS) to re-imagine the built environment. The summit will focus on start-up technologies ready for deployment in Austin's $10.4 million, DOE-funded smart grid demonstration project.
The project, which includes an integrated energy system of 1,000 homes and 75 businesses, is a product of the Pecan Street Project, a real-time, citywide clean energy laboratory.
The one-and-one-half-day summit, scheduled for Sept. 29-30, will feature a competition of 20 early stage clean-energy companies developing in seven focus areas of the Pecan Street Project demonstration project:

energy management,

building-integrated energy efficiency technologies,

smart appliances,
-
energy information systems,
-
smart resource management (electricity, water, gas and waste),

distributed energy storage and
-
distributed fueling for transportation.
Summit judges will evaluate entries based on innovation, overall market opportunity, stage of development, intellectual property position, resource requirements, environmental impact and potential return on investment.
