Willett to Deliver Keynote at TAPPI Conference

Richard D. "Rick" Willett Jr., president and chief executive officer of NewPage Corporation, will be the Oct. 12 keynote speaker for the 2009 TAPPI Engineering, Pulping, Environmental (EPE) Conference in Memphis, Tenn.

Willett will speak about "Current Challenges and Opportunities in the Paper Industry." He will offer observations and thoughts needed to ensure a sustainable paper industry in North America. More specifically, he will cover critical investments in technology and people needed to achieve the goal of industry sustainability.

Willett has held senior leadership roles at Cerebus Capital Management, L.P., one of the world's largest private investment firms, where he was involved in acquiring the core business of Teleglobe Inc. in 2002. At Teleglobe, Willett held various positions including chief financial officer, vice president of operations, and president and chief operating officer. Prior to those roles, he held a progression of increasing responsibility at General Electric (GE) spanning 11 years.
