UT-Battelle Awards Contracts to Safety and Ecology Corp.

UT-Battelle, the Department of Energy's prime contractor on a project to modernize the Oak Ridge Reservation, awarded nearly $1 million in contracts to Safety and Ecology Corp., a subsidiary of Homeland Security Capital Corp.

The subsidiary is an international, environmental construction and disaster recovery services company.

The contractor has awarded eight contracts within the last 12 months to the company.

UT-Battelle is the management contractor for DOE's Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The company's scope on these projects includes infrastructure reduction, demolition, facility closure, and infrastructure upgrades for projects at the lab.

UT-Battelle, established for the sole purpose of managing and operating the lab, was formed as a 50-50 limited liability partnership between the University of Tennessee and Battelle.

Safety and Ecology Corp. is a rapidly growing environmental services company, specializing in the removal and remediation of hazardous nuclear materials for the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Defense, and other federal agencies.
